Mainstream media, please stop

Dear mainstream media, please stop with the bias reporting. You are giving all journalists a bad name. There are some of us who still strive for integrity in our reporting, who want to report the truth and try hard not to show any bias.
Please stop spreading fear and panic among the masses. Please stop focusing on what you think will get you the most air time and likes. That’s not what news is supposed to be about.
Please stop jumping on everything negative and picking apart every little thing our newly elected president does or says. Please do take the time to check sources and stop spreading fake news.
Feeling as if your freedom of press and speech has been threatened is something many have brought upon themselves. Do the job the way it was meant to be done and you won’t have any problems with anyone not allowing you to ask questions or questioning your integrity. Quit saying you are not bias. Admit it. Admit that you decide what is and what is not news. Admit that you overlook some really good stories. Admit that depending on who is involved in the story, the coverage it gets is based on political affiliation.
Admit that you especially go after conservatives. But more importantly, admit that there is a problem and it begins with you.
Story selection is a form of bias because it conceals events from the public. Social media and tweeting make this even worse. Mainstream media representatives take to tweeting in an effort to discredit other journalists and others whose views are opposite from theirs. They try to negate the more conservative stories and attack them with tweets.
But yet, a journalistic organization says all journalists should be standing behind each other. I would agree when they are doing the right thing and being ridiculed, however, we should also hold them accountable and speak our mind when they fall out of line. Telling us to stand behind them regardless, is in fact, restricting our freedom of speech.
Verify your facts. Don’t report something as unverifiable or unsupported because when you do, you are giving credence to something that is more than likely untrue.
Citizens are partly to blame as well because we believe everything we read and we don’t check the news sources to see if they are legitimate. I can tell you there are probably more that are not real sources than there are true and competent sources out there.
Don’t let the mainstream media dictate to you what is real news and don’t let them spoon feed it to you. Don’t let them influence your opinions with biased and unconfirmed stories. Don’t let them tell you what to think.
You see our attitudes, beliefs and opinions are shaped by what we allow into our minds. Believing everything we read, “programs” us and we are in effect, allowing that to think for us. We need to be thinking for ourselves.
It seems the mainstream media is pro-establishment and promotes that agenda. And why wouldn’t they when they have ties to the establishment. Both CBS and ABC had relatives in the Obama administration. I won’t even get into the relationships mainstream media has with the large corporations who own stocks in the parent companies or advertise with them. That’s another reason they dislike alternative news sites.
Remember that only six giant media corporations produce about 90 percent of the news that American citizens consume. Most of the tirade they spot is in their effort to promote a globalist agenda. And when the American people are so addicted to mainstream media, it has a substantial impact on how we think. Until we can stop or at least slow down this addiction so people will start thinking for themselves, we will continue to get more of the same mode of thinking and unrest we have witnessed lately.
So much propaganda is being downloaded into our brains, that many don’t even have a single thought of their own anymore.
Get off social media. Quit relying on mainstream media to tell you what to think and stop believing everything they tell you. Start demanding that they actually “report” the news without injecting their agenda or opinion. Quit giving credence to mainstream media by sharing everything they put out there. Start thinking for yourself. Don’t allow your children to be so influenced either.
Better yet, invest in your local news media and give them support. Let them know you appreciate them covering local events and government meetings. Support them with subscriptions and advertisements. Hold them accountable as well.©2017
