Random thoughts on the current crisis

With all that going on around us, it has become harder to truly focus and get thoughts in order for me. Truthfully, before this there have been days and here and there occasionally but with so much information to assimilate, there seem to be more of those days.

Therefore, I took a break from social media which helped me tremendously. There was too much spreading the fear and misinformation that only lead to more fear.

As a child of God, I put faith over fear and refuse to give in to the fear as God tells us not to fear. Yes, He gives us wisdom and discernment in all situations as well if we ask and depend on Him.

During this C-virus issue, I am seeing even more division on some fronts. On others, I am seeing people come together and that not only brightens my heart, but gives me hope for humanity.

There is division into those who fear and keep spreading that fear and those who leans harder into their faith and doesn’t spread it or give in to it. I’m not saying anyone doesn’t have faith, just that each of us respond to situations differently. That’s what makes the world go around and if we could learn to respond in a more positive way to negativity, things would be even better.

You may think shutting the whole world down a good thing. Personally, I don’t and each of us is entitled to our opinion, even if you disagree and that’s fine.

I do take this seriously and do what is recommended but above all I depend on God to lead me.

When you start locking down a thriving economy, putting people out of work and destroying small businesses, then the problem is much bigger than a new viral strain. There are new strains all the time, that we never even hear about. Each of us has an appointed time to die and no matter what takes us out, that will be the day God decides.

Part of this hysteria has been brought on by a mainstream media, that not only hates our President, apparently, they hate America as well. They are reporting every single case that crops us. Have they ever done that before? That answer is no.

Depending on what sources you trust, some of the information has been skewed to support their intended propaganda; and sometimes the numbers are inflated.

It is showing me that it’s really easy to take over a country with mainstream media by creating panic.

We are not facing a food shortage so far, it’s just that people are acting crazy and hoarding things as if the world will end tomorrow. They are not taking their neighbors and fellow humans into consideration when they do that. We are supposed to care about others just as we care about ourselves.

In reality, you could have been exposed to other diseases that you know nothing about and that did not even affect you. Because you didn’t know about it, you didn’t panic.

Be informed and take the necessary precautions but don’t add to the panic hysteria.

If this continues on many more weeks our economy will be devastated. It will not matter how much money is thrown at the situation, for some it will be too late. Mom and pop businesses and the smaller businesses will be so impacted they cannot recover.

Don’t preach about loans either. Those businesses already struggling to pay bills and keep the doors open cannot afford a loan, so it does not help them one iota.

In America, we overcome, we step up to the plate in a crisis and we work together. That’s what we should be doing instead of panicking and being controlled by the media.

For those who want Sanders or Biden as president, this is only a very small taste of how bad things could be in a socialistic society.

We should learn through this that we are not in control, God is, and He’s even control of the virus. I will not get into whether this a plague from Him.  Instead of panicking, start praying more.VICTORIA SIMMONS Is a columnist, author, motivational speaker, minister and publisher of The Georgia Post/Byron Buzz.
